New teachers are well looked after. You'll start with a week of paid training at head office, teach from a full curriculum with course guides and materials, and get ongoing academic support. For your first four months, your pay is guaranteed for 20 hours a week, so you're secure while your timetable builds up.
Teachers are rewarded for staying. Pay rises every 6 to 12 months, your completion bonus grows every year, and there's a clear path into management, which is why many teachers stay for two years or more.

How much do English teachers earn in Taiwan?
Teachers earn NT$600 to 700 an hour, depending on qualifications and experience. For your first 4 months, a Teaching Hours Allowance guarantees pay for 20 hours a week even if your timetable is still building up. Pay rises with performance every 6 months and automatically every 12 months, and there's a contract completion bonus every year, from NT$15,000 in year 1 to NT$40,000 or more from year 4.
What are the requirements to teach English in Taiwan?
You need to be a native English speaker and passport holder, with a bachelor's degree, a TEFL certificate and a criminal background check from your home country. Experience with children is required. In some cases, an associate degree combined with a TEFL certificate may be accepted. Passport holders from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand are preferred, as they can enter Taiwan visa-free.
