So you’ve made up your mind to teach English in Korea. But what happens next? How to turn that idea into reality? This application guide should set you nicely on your way (and also hopefully give a bit of insight into exactly how we can help you!)
- The first step of the journey begins with you sending us a copy of your resume along with a recent photo. We encourage you to let us know exactly what kind of teaching position you are looking for. For example, do you want to teach in a large city? Would you prefer to teach young students? Do you only want to teach adults? When do you want to start?
- Once we have this information, we will contact our schools that most closely match with your requirements.
- We then send you some possibilities by email and you select the schools that you would like to have a phone interview with.
- The next step is for us to arrange your interview and it is at this point that you speak to the Director of potential academy.
What happens in the interview?
The interview is basically just a chance for the Director and yourself to get to know each other and is nothing to worry about! Usually, he or she will ask you a bit about your educational and employment background and why you want to teach in Korea. It’s also the perfect chance for you to ask any questions you may have.
- If all goes well during the interview with both sides happy, and you wish to proceed, it is time to start the visa process (see Getting a teaching visa, Korea for a closer look at this)
- Once your visa is ready, we book your flights and then it is next stop South Korea!
- In almost all cases somebody from the school will be waiting for you at the airport to pick you up and take you to your new home for the next year… or longer!
